Project Self-Evaluation Rubric

Do not start anything until you are familiar with all the grading bands that are being used for determining your final score. Use this rubric for evaluating your efforts on the final illustration you design for this assignment. If you still have questions, ask a classmate or me.

ILLUSTRATION:

A decoration, interpretation or visual explanation of a text, concept or process, designed for integration in published media, such as posters, fliers, magazines, books, teaching materials, animations, video games and films. An illustration is typically created by an illustrator.

Assignment for Illustrated Poem:

Using the provided worksheet with video notes and the self-evaluation rubric, you are to create an illustration of a connection you found with this poem. Pick a statement or stanza that "talks" to you and create an illustration. Media selection is your choice BUT the final size of the project needs to be larger than 10 inches in all directions.

Adv. Art: Number as a Theme

Using both .pdf files, you will be able to print/read the directions and rubric for creating
an original solution using a number as the source of your inspiration.

Assignment for Numer as a Theme:

The handout describes the assignment and gives prompts for numbers 1 through 13. You are more than welcome to find your own numerical source of inspiration (that is the purpose of this project), but all themes or topics need prior approval from Mr. Spoor before beginning. Your choice of media final size needs to be at least 11" X 14" ( and X 5" if 3D), no smaller.

Adv. Art: 4 Works in 4 Weeks

Using this .pdf handout, you will develop 4 works in 4 weeks.
You will incorporate your Art Process Journal to plan each final piece

"Boot Camp" Watercolor Exercise

Use the .pdf worksheet to complete 2 tasks to further develop your understanding of watercolor and skin tones.

Assignment for Watercolor: SKIN

Once you have completed this exercise learning about skin tones, your assignment is to create a portrait of your choice, focusing on the face. You are allowed to choose the skin tone (but it must be realistic) and final project size at least 9" X 12".
Remember to use your Art Process Journal:
Reflecting on what worked and areas of struggle will help you
the next time you encounter that same issue.

"Boot Camp" Exercise: More Watercolor

Using this .pdf file, you will be able to explore watercolor techniques with a still life.

Assignment for Watercolor: STILL LIFE

After completing the learning exercise - you are to create a still life that offers a "focal point" and develop it in watercolor. Finished assignment size is 11" X 14". You choose aspect; landscape or portrait.
